Integrating Latch FAQ:

1. How do I become a Latch Developer?

From the Register as a Developer button located in the Developers Area. If you aren't a Latch user you will have to enter the information requested in the registration form and accept the Conditions of use and the Latch Service Contract for Developers. Finally, you will have to press on a confirmation link that we will send to your email address.

2. I have a Latch user account, can I use it to sign in as a Latch Developer?

Yes, but first you have to activate it as a developer account by accepting the Latch Service Contract for Developers. You can do it from the Register as a Developer button from this page.

3. I didn’t receive the confirmation email to verify my account

If you don´t receive the confirmation message within a few minutes of registering, please check your Junk email or Spam folder just in case the confirmation email got delivered there instead of your inbox. You can request a new email at any time by creating the account again on the registration page.

4. I entered my email address incorrectly when I registered. How do I change it?

You need to confirm your email address before activating your account. You do this from a link that we'll send you to the email address you provided. If that was wrong, that email won't go anywhere, just go back to the register page and enter your desired email address. Once you've created and activated your account, your email address is your account identifier and cannot be changed.

5. I'm seeing an error message that says there's an existing email associated with my email address

You can only register for one Latch account per email address. If you already unlocked a Latch account using your email address but lost your password, you can reset your password.

6. How do I start using the Latch solution on my website or online service?

Basically you have to register yourself as a Latch Developer and purchase the Latch Subscription option that best meets your needs. Then create an Application for your service and link your code to see the Latch service using the Plugins and the Latch SDKs. Finally create an area on your website where users can pair their Latch account with your service.

1. What does pairing a service mean? What do I have to do to get the service paired?

To enable communication between your service and the user´s Latch account, a pairing process must be performed between the user´s Latch account and your service. This process is launched by the user on your website and is performed via a token generated by the Latch mobile app.
Create a section on your website from which your users can pair their Latch account with your service. You can find technical information about the pairing process on the API Documentation section of the Developer area.

2. What is a 2nd OTP factor (One-Time Password)?

A one-time password (OTP) is a password that is valid for only one login session or transaction. Latch offers this option as extra layer of protection. Your end users receive the one-time password on their Latch app.

3. Which security features can I add to my service?

You can setup different features of your service that users will be able to lock or unlock from their Latch app on their mobile device:

You can enable the locking of the service authentication phase, so the user can lock access to the service.
You can enable locks for different service operations. For instance you could enable the locking of the credit cards, transfers, configuration changes, etc.
You can enable a second authentication factor (One Time Password) to access your service or any of its operations. You can define it as an optional security feature for your users (opt-in) or as a mandatory one.
You can enable a Autolock by use, that will lock the service or operation automatically each time it is used by endusers. You can define it as an optional security feature for your users (opt-in) or as a mandatory one.

4. What do my users need to do to start using the Latch features integrated into my service?

Once your service is Latch-enabled, you have to tell your users that they can start taking control of their account.

In order to start using the Latch security features they need to:

Get a Latch account here.
Download the Latch app for their mobile device here.
Pair their Latch account with your service.

From your website they´ll launch the pairing process and your service will ask them for a pairing code.
From the Latch app they´ll tap the "Add a new service" option to generate the paring code.
They´ll introduce the pairing code on your website pairing page.

Once the pairing process is finished they´ll receive a confirmation notice on the Latch app and they'll be able to access the setup of the features you have defined for your service.
